Through the study of Statics and Strength of Materials, this course provides a theoretical and scientific basis in the understanding of how various structural mechanisms and structural materials behave and withstand loading. The concepts introduced during this course will be investigated with quantitative analysis using both manual and computer techniques. The scope of this course will be limited to the examination of simple structural elements such as beams, columns, trusses and frames.
