This is the second course in the Structures sequence. Code specified loading criteria are presented, including Wind, Snow and Seismic Loads. Structural concepts and design using wood, structural steel and reinforced concrete are introduced. The student will learn the properties and common uses of these materials and will be able to make reasonable estimates of various members for preliminary design. Lateral bracing systems and floor framing systems will be presented and the relative merits of each will be discussed.
