The design build lab will develop an exhibit to house Frank Lloyd Wright artifacts (furniture and photos) from the Larkin Administrative Building. The exhibit will be housed in the Hayes Hall Ciminelli Gallery from June 1-Oct 30, as part of the 150 year celebration of Frank Lloyd Wright’s birth. Other items that will be included in the exhibit will be Larkin company artifacts and a movie on the modern factory.

A key part of the design research will include understanding the Arts and Crafts Movement in the United States and Wright’s pivotal role in introducing industrial production to it. We will approach our design for the exhibit by examining contemporary digital fabrication techniques and how they may reflect some of the challenges that Wright addressed with craft traditions, mechanical production and media technologies.
