ARC 599-Sec 490– ARC 590 TUT Sec 490
Course No.: 12045
Semester: 2016 Spring
Location: Crosby – Room 305
Meeting Day(s): Friday
Meeting Time: 9:00am - 11:40 am
This is a “making” course in which students will design and fabricate play elements and structures. These life-sized pieces will be deployed in a community playspace in the City of Buffalo for the enjoyment of children and adults.
The play elements imagined and built as part of the course will combine thinking of the dimensions of the body, both those of the maker and the user, as well as of materiality and means of production and assembly.
Students will be given an intense introduction and grounding in contemporary and historical practices and approaches to play, and will be expected to develop their designs through models, drawing and 1:1 mock-ups working collaboratively.
