The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the structure, logic, and process of research relevant to the discipline of planning. Topics covered in the course include development of qualitative and quantitative research design, ethical considerations in research, sampling, and reliability and validity in research. The course draws on research design traditions in multiple disciplines, and examines how these traditions may inform planning research.
